PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Happy New Year to all our members and may 2020 continue to be a successful year for the Queensland Irish Association.
SEAMUS SULLIVAN – CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD
We are extremely proud to announce our Vice President Seamus Sullivan was awarded Citizen of the Year at the 2020 Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Awards.
Seamus has worked tirelessly for the Queensland Irish Association, IASAQ, Gaelic Football and his involvement in many other organisations.
The Queensland Irish Association would like to congratulate Seamus on his magnificent contribution to the Irish community.
Congratulations on your award Seamus, a worthy recipient and a wonderful recognition on behalf of all the members of the Queensland Irish Association.
ST BRIGID’S DINNER
The St Brigid’s Dinner will again be held at Easts Coorparoo on Saturday 1 February 2020. The Ambassador for Ireland His Excellency Breandan O’Caoll ai will be in attendance, Guest Speaker will be Mr Nigel Harris, Chief Executive Officer, Mater Foundation.
ST PATRICK’S EVE DINNER
March is a busy month with the many events that surround the Feast of St Patrick. The St Patrick’s Eve Dinner will be held on Monday 16 March 2020 at the Pullman Brisbane Hotel King George Square. The toast to ‘Australia Our Nation’ will be made by Stephen Moore the former Captain of the Wallabies.
Justice Martin Daubney will again respond to the Principal Toast.
Organise your table/or part table now.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
I would urge as many of you as can do so to march with the QIA float in the St Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday 14 March. To indicate your intention to attend could you please contact David O’Farrell or Chris Peters to advise of the members of your family who will be joining you.
Children and grandchildren are most welcome to participate in the Parade.
Please assemble at the float in Alice Street by 10am. Please bring your family and friends along and enjoy the food and entertainment in the Botanical Gardens after the Parade.
David & Chris are anxious for a good turnout and would love to hear from you and advise further information.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 14 November 2019 at the Colmslie Hotel. All Board members were re-elected unopposed.
All dinners are held at Hotel Pacific Brisbane 345 Wickham Terrace Spring Hill.
Time: 7.00pm – 10.30pm with Happy Hour 6.00pm – 8.00pm

TIGH GAELACH LADIES’ DINING CLUB
The Tigh Gaelach Dining Club celebrates a long history of enjoying good food, wine, and wonderful company. The inaugural Dinner was held in June 1987 and was organised by very active female members of the Queensland Irish Association.
Tigh Gaelach members meet at 7:00pm on the last Wednesday of the month between February and November. Our ladies enjoy pre-dinner champagne, an interesting and varied two course meal with wine, beer or soft drink throughout. Dinners cost $45. Dinners are held at Gilhooleys, Albert St. Brisbane.

Any bookings need to be made by Wednesday the week prior to our dinner. When booking, please provide all names of those attending, a contact number and any specific dietary requirements. We have a great committee who help support our members and all work hard to make our evenings fun.
