September 2020 Newsletter

Members recently received our September newsletter by email. It has a whole new look and some very exciting news about the future of Queensland Irish Association. QIA is moving forward with a view to purchasing a commercial property in Fortitude Valley. The newsletter also gives details of plans for our Annual General Meeting, which will be held on 24th November 2020. There’s news on our Friday social meetings, which have been proving to be very successful, and a picture spread of Queensland Irish Pipe Band. Join us for a meet-up in November

Queensland Irish Association invites all members and potential members to join us at Grand Central Hotel on Ann Street, Brisbane on Friday, 13th November, from 4pm. There will be Guinness available on tap, Guinness pie, fish and chips and a host of other dining options available, and a special performance by the very talented members of the Queensland Irish Association Pipe Band, which is always a highlight and has been known to turn into a sing-song of favourite Irish tunes.…

Vale FT “Bill” Hanley OAM CyC

  Francis Thomas “Bill” Hanley was born at Millaa Millaa on the Atherton Tableland in 1922. He was educated at Ellinjaa Road State School and St Augustine’s Marist Brothers, Cairns. In 1942, Bill enlisted in the AIF and rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Royal Australian Engineers 5th Division.…
